MANA PRESS is an independent publishing house based in Switzerland and created for an international readership. We believe publishing begins with respect: for the idea, for the author, for the book and for the person reading it. We do not believe that a serious book must be difficult. We do not believe that a useful book must be long. And we do not believe that accessibility requires sacrificing depth. Different ideas require different treatments. Our role as a publisher is not to impose a format on an idea. It is to find the right form for it.

WHY MANA?

Across cultures, the word “mana” has been associated with an intrinsic force — a quality, presence or influence that gives something significance beyond its surface. For us, MANA represents the force of an idea: an idea capable of changing the way we understand a subject, a question or ourselves. MANA Press exists to find those ideas, clarify them and give them a form worth keeping.

RESPECT — The reader’s intelligence and time come first.

CLARITY — Difficulty should come from the subject, never from unnecessary writing.

SUBSTANCE — A book should contain ideas, not padding.

DEPTH — When a subject requires complexity, we embrace it.

PRECISION — Use the words that are necessary. Remove those that are not.
